# Moving to subfolder problem

 * Hi, I am trying to move my wordpress site from root to a folder called ‘wordpress’.
 * I am following these steps: [http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory](http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory)
 * However, at Step 3 where it says “Login to the new location. It might now be 
   [http://example.com/wordpress/wp-admin/&#8221](http://example.com/wordpress/wp-admin/&#8221);,
   i am getting a page not found 404 error.
 * Can someone plz help me out?

 * No, it is a linux server.
    However, it is a shared hosting package from namecheap.
   com so i don’t really have access to the server shell/root.

   mention anything about modifying htaccess
