So my site is currently with 123-Reg and I want to move it to 1and1 and keep domain etc…

Moving domain name is easy – I want to know if once I have done a full backup with Free version if I will then be able to install plugin at new 1and1 (same domain name) and so a full restore and it will work 100% ?

    Thanks

A restore is not implementet at the momment.
You can upload the files in the archive to the new hoster and must import the .sql file with PHPMyAdmin to the Database. Than change wp-config.php with the new Database connection params.

But i think 1and1 is not the best choise. It can be that ther BackWPup will not work.

Thank you for getting back so quick but I am confused..

If a restore is not possible, what is the point in the plugin?

A Restore is possible but must made by hand. The Restrure is in Beta in the next time.

The point of the plugin is to create a zip archive of all the files on your site, plus a standard mysql backup file of the wordpress mysql database, and copy them offsite in case the server/storage blows up. To restore, you just unzip the files, and import the database backup using standard mysql tools (like MySql Workbench). Like Dainiel said, once you have restored the files (in your new web root) and mysql database on your new host, you just need to edit the wp-config to point to the new database (new host, new user, password).
