Moving search widget to nav bar

Currently, I am using the Compromise Theme and I have the ability to add widgets to the left-hand sidebar. One of the widgets I have on the sidebar is the search widget, but I would rather move it up into the navigation bar. When I go into Appearance> Widgets, I only have the ability to drag and drop widgets into my sidebar, but not the navigation bar. Can anyone instruct me on how to hardcode my search box into the navigation bar OR edit the code for the navigation bar so that it can receive widgets?
