I am running WP 2.5.1 and using Podpress to run my podcast. I am aware of Apple’s spec sheet for moving a podcast with iTunes (http://www.apple.com/itunes/store/podcaststechspecs.html). There are a few really confusing things about the spec sheet that I’m hoping someone will clear up for me! 🙂

First of all, where in my install can I go to find and manually edit the feed? It recommends inserting <itunes:new-feed-url> into the file, which sounds easy… except I don’t know where to find said file to insert it into! That is because podpress doesn’t appear to just have one set file you can edit that will change your feed. It appears to me that podpress assembles a feed through a bunch of complex coding.

Second, the iTunes spec sheet recommends doing a 301 redirect — specifically, which file in my install do I need to redirect? I know how to perform a redirect, I just don’t have a clue which file I am supposed to redirect. Since my old feed is listed as: http://thenoseglows.com/blog/?feed=podcast and no such file exists, I’m guessing that the file is generated through some other means that is way beyond me.

I guess my sad struggle is that the Apple document does not give a step-by-step idea of how to do what it is asking. Thanks for any help!

I found a helpful post at:

It got me on a good path. I did find, though, that my rss2.php file had almost no code in it. Surprise! It wasn’t until I went to wp-includes>feed-rss2.php that I found a file similar to what they were describing. I just edited the file and will keep you posted as to whether or not this works!

Fixed the problem! Thanks to the gang at that other post! It took a little while for iTunes to update. Once it did, though, I was golden.
