Hi, I’ve been looking at Events manager to replace our current use of Google calendar to manage bookings for our sailing club. It seems very fully featured, but I’m worried there might also be some show stoppers.

At the moment we have a manual process. Our bookings officer receives emails (directly, or from a web form) and manually creates calendar entries in Google calendar which are displayed on the calendar embedded in the web site. We have two calendars, one for each boat in different colours, and list the people sailing in the event description, so members can see who else is on a trip before they book it.

In looking to migrate to Event Manager, I’ve prototyped creating sailing events which show up on the calendar and confirmed logged in members can book a ticket. This all works really well. Where I’m struggling is:

    1. Can an administrator/bookings officer create bookings on behalf of other members? It seems people can only book for themselves?
    2. Is it possible to automatically list the members who have booked as part of the event page?
    3. Is it possible to limit self-cancellations to four weeks before the event? (After that members are liable to pay if they cancel, so would want cancellations to go via the bookings officer)
    4. Is it possible to set the colour of calendar entries based on an attribute? (which boat is being used)

This may all be possible and I apologise if I’ve missed an FAQ but I wanted to check before spending too much time if it isn’t feasible. Thanks Steve

    hi,

    it would be better posting one question per thread to avoid confusion and mixed up;

    1. you can use Manual Bookings however at the moment this is only available on EMpro -> https://wp-events-plugin.com/documentation/manual-bookings/

    2. you can use placeholder #_ATTENDEES under events > settings > formatting > events > single events page format

    https://wp-events-plugin.com/documentation/placeholders/

    3. it might be possible but you need custom coding to make this work at the moment.

    4. you can use placeholder #_CATEGORYCOLOR under events > settings > formatting > calendar or use wp fullcalendar

Thanks Angelo. I think EM gives me almost all I’m trying to achieve and will allow many more benefits that I haven’t asked about. I’ve spent a couple of days experimenting on my dev site since I asked my original questions and I’m really impressed.

If I pay for EM Pro and install on my dev site will I be able to use the same licence on my prod site? If so, you will get an order today 🙂

    Hi Steve,

    EM User here too 🙂
Yes, the Pro license is used to authorize Pro-updates. You can use one license key on a live installation and localhost 🙂

    Patrick.
