Ok here is the deal. Right now I have wordpress on my domain example.com

These are the urls that are live now since 11-2011

    http://example.com/
    http://example.com/page 1
    http://example.com/page 2
    http://example.com/page 3
    http://example.com/blog
    http://example.com/contact

Then there are the 4 pages of blog post I have.

I am redoing the site on a different wordpress template. The content that I will add will be 100% different. So this means the urls structure will change as well.

The ONLY thing I want to keep from my old site is the 4 pages of blog post with the urls that it produced. The rest will be brand new like

    http://example.com/new page

    http://example.com/new page 2

My question is HOW do I move a brand new template build onto my old domain and still keep the blog post urls? Not sure at all how I would do that. If push comes to shove I will redo all new blog post but basically in a nutshell I want to use my same domain, have a fresh new design and content and new urls structure but keep my old blog post (they are PR3 now.

Any clues on how a newbie could do this AND how would I transfer it all over.

    Hope this makes sense.

You can just install and activate any theme. Your main urls will not be touched unless you manually change your permalink structure.

Ok, but I DO want to change my permalinks structure EXCEPT for the blog post. How can I seperate the 2?

Also are you saying that if I just install a new template my old info would fall right into place? I dont see how that can happen

How can I seperate the 2?

You can't really. The permalink structure is global. It affects all Posts whilst all Pages automatically use the /%pagename%/ structure.

my old info would fall right into place?

    Correct. Try it and see.

so if I upload the new template, create new "pages" (meaning a whole different url then what I have now) will I lose all my pagerank as well?
