• Hey guys, hopefully someone can help me.

I am using wordpress for my photography site, url – http://www.samsmithphotography.co.uk

The way my theme is set up, i have to put that the front page will show latest posts, in order to get the image slider. This means i’m not able to do actually have a blog to upload photos to as I go along.

Firstly, am i able to move all the posts i made before i changed the theme, to my blog page? e.g. this post: http://www.samsmithphotography.co.uk/2010/06/butterfly-in-the-sun/

Secondly, does anybody know how I can set it so that the home page is where I show the slider etc. As i know if i could do that, i can just set it as a static page and have a posts page elsewhere.

Hopefully somebody knows what I mean, I’m not too sure how to explain!

    Thanks

    Sam

Sorry? Why does having a posts page as your front page mean you can’t upload any images to posts?

I’m using the slider on the front page to show a few photos. The way the theme is set up is that the photos in the slider must be the latest posts.

What I would like is for a blog page to show posts, with my comments etc, and then the home page just to show the slider, and the images i choose for it.

If this is just something the theme creator must help me with, thats ok, just thought i’d ask.

the photos in the slider must be the latest posts.

That shouldn’t stop you creating new posts and adding images to them. If, however, you want to specify which images are added to the slider, you’d be best contacting the theme’s developer as it would probably involve some advanced re-coding.

No i know, but the latest posts will come up on the home page, rather than on a blog page.

I can select which ones i wish to use now. I just want those posts left aloe as the sliders, then be able to make new posts on a blog page, do you see what I mean?

So you know about moving old posts by any chance?

    Thanks

You can’t “move” posts per se – except by editing each old post and changing the category it’s filed under.

If you don’t want recent posts appearing on your front page, then you;d need to look at creating a custom page template that incorporates your image slider, removing the slider from index.php and then re-configuring the page to use a static front page (with your new template applied).

Ok thank you for your help. Ill look into it but it may be a bit beyond me, hopefully not 🙂
