• Hi,
I recently update win 10 and with that it removed WAMP and wordpress for god knows why!!
I’ve reinstalled WAMP, but I have all the WP database intact.
How do I mount/link this database to WAMP and resume my website work.

    Much thanks in advance.

  • Barely a WordPress question.
What does Windows support say ?
What does MySql support say ?
What does WAMP support say ?

    I know.
But even if there’s a meagre probability of getting an answer….
    Lets see.

What do you mean by “I have all the WP database intact”? Do you have a dump created by phpMyAdmin or mysqldump? Do you have a snapshot of the MySQL data directory? Or something else (which you’ll need to specify)?

It would be easy to restore your database if you had a SQL dump. It may be possible to restore your database using a snapshot of the data directory, but it would depend on how you took the snapshot, and which engines (MyISAM/InnoDB/Aria) were used for the tables in the database.

    Hey Dion!
I am pretty much a novice in this arena. Would appreciate if you could point out the direction to find these files.
Where do i find the SQL dump? Are these files created in the WP install destination or WAMP?

Also, do i need to have a backup of my WAMP files? As it was installed in C: drive and i had to reinstall the same.

    You said:

I have no idea where the old WP database is located, but you should. 🙂

However…if you re-installed WAMP without first making a backup of the old WAMP database, then that old database is lost forever.

    Dang!!
Thanks for your help though 🙂
