I am becoming increasingly concerned that I have muffed it!

My daughter’s WordPress website shared my hosting but, when I moved to a new host (iPage), she got her own account with the same host.

I downloaded my website onto my hard drive, then uploaded it to iPage and it all worked fine. Not knowing about the complexities of WordPress, I attempted to do the same with my daughter’s site – and it didn’t 🙁

So, I have read about MySQL and have created a database on iPage using the same details as in her old WP-config file, but I can’t figure out how to load it with the data. I have the full copy of the old site on the new host, but no longer have access to the old host.

I would be very grateful for any assistance …

… as far as I know, I followed the instructions above to the letter, but still must have missed something.

My daughter’s chosen theme and all the plugins are there, but not the layout and data in its proper place.

I edited wp-config to correspond to the MySQL database set up on the new host.

All the uploads, going back 6 years, are on the new server. What I assumed, and didn’t check, was that the site was all thoroughly backed up, including the database. There is one dated July 2012.

I’m afraid I am a WordPress novice, but the move looked straightforward and expertise didn’t seem necessary – now it is 🙁

… saved by the good offices of tech support at HostPapa who allowed me to return to retrieve the database!

    Lesson learned …

Glad you got it sorted out. 🙂
