• I have a wordpress.com account that I set up with an already-registered domain. As in, I registered the domain upon activating the account.

I am now wanting to move from WordPress.com to WordPress.org and I’m stuck. I purchased hosting via GoDaddy, and I followed the steps to install WordPress. I also used the same domain that was already registered. I cannot seem to login using the username and password I creating when setting up the host, and it only allows me to sign in using my WordPress.com information.

Any help with getting signed in and moving content over would be great.

  • You need to point your domain name at your self-hosted WordPress site.

The problem is, I cannot log in through my self-hosted WordPress site. I used the username which was generated when setting it up on GoDaddy and, I created a password. However, when I click the link to login, it won’t accept the username and password and only allows me to log in using the username and password created through WordPress.com.

I cannot do much of anything without being able to login to my self-hosted account, and I’m not sure why i can’t…

That’s because your domain name is still pointing at your WordPress.COM site.

You need to do what esmi said and point your domain name at GoDaddy’s servers. This will be with whoever you registered the domain name with. If it’s WordPress.COM, you’ll have to ask them.

    avenua,

If you are still having issues. I can help. If your domain isn’t pointed to your hosting account’s nameservers, then I can help you get it there.

First you need to find your correct nameservers: http://go.me/WU

Once you have your nameservers, you need to point your domain to them: http://go.me/WV

If you have any questions about this process, let me know or feel free to hit up our 24/7 support: http://x.co/heretohelp
