Moving from HTML to WordPress

  • Greetings!

    Need advice, please…

I’d like to transition a current HTML site over to WordPress, but I don’t want to take the HTML site offline because we’ll lose business.

Is it possible to install WordPress in the home directory with the HTML pages? Will the HTML pages over-ride the WordPress pages when a visitor comes to our site?

Or, should I just install WordPress & the template in a sub-directory, move the content over, then RE-INSTALL WordPress in the home directory when I’m ready to go live?

I can’t decide which would be a smarter way… any thoughts?

    Thanks in advance!
    Cynthia
