Hello,
I am new at this and am confused!
I created a website using Adobe Muse and uploaded it using the FTP feature, within Muse, to my site hosted by bluehost. I now want to create a site using WordPress. I have downloaded WordPress and chosen a theme.
1) Can I keep the old site working while I create the new one? How?
2) When the new one is ready how do I disable the old?

Hi,

Those questions do not have straight forward answers and will require an understanding of hosting, wordpress and websites.

1. Yes – as long as you don’t develop it on the same domain name – i.e. develop on a sub-domain or in a sub-directory

2. When ready – You need to backup and remove the old and then overwrite with the new WP site – Updating all the WP links and URLs to match the new domain

Leave it in a sub-directory and use it there: https://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory

The problem is Adobe muse creates a website using html while wp runs on php. SO if you are a programmer you can modify the html to php format.
