# Moving A WordPress Blog

 * I know this has been discussed before and I’ve done some searching and can’t 
   exactly find what I need and I’m in a time crunch to help a friend today.
 * What I want to do is move his existing wp blog content and comments from his 
   name.wordpress.com blog over to his own domain name. I did find [this link](http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress)
   but it doesn’t completely answer my question.
 * I do know how to do a fresh install of WordPress but now that I have an export
   of his content via the wordpress.com export feature, how do I get it into his
   new site/domain with out breaking things?
 * At this point I haven’t done the WP install yet because I don’t want to do double
   duty and if I need to fix something, I only want to do it once.
 * To summarize, I want to take wp content from a wordpress.com hosted blog and 
   move it to a stand alone install of word press on a different domain.

 * Well I was halfway there HandySolo. I already did the export from his wordpress.
   com blog, so now to do the full install, add the plugin and do an import. Wish
   me luck. I’ll return soon with what happened, good or bad.
