I recently moved my blog from /blog to the top level directory. I followed directions found here and the move was successful. I have two questions.

My old blog is still showing at /blog. Is there a way to insert a redirect so that previous visitors will be taken to the new location?

My image URL’s keep directing to the original /blog location. How can I change these.

    THanks.

My preferred method is to dumb the db, search and replace the urls in a text editor, drop the original tables, then import. See the db editing part of the following videos:

If you search the forums, I believe others have also posted about a plugin that allows you to replace values in the db…just use that with care and regardless of what you do…keep a good backup of your db just in case…

You could just put an index file in the blog directory with a link to your new location and a note asking them to update bookmarks. If you have Cpanel, there is a redirect tool there that makes auto-redirect pretty easy to set-up. I’m sure there are other methods as well…
