Moved to new host provider – Fatal Errors

  • I just moved a WordPress site to a new host provider and I am receiving the message below. I am new to working with WordPress and any help is appreciated.

  • Did you upload files and folders in right place wwwroot\wordpress is wwwroot your root folder and then you have wordpress

As far as I know all of the core WordPress files are in the WordPress folder yes.

It sounds like a few files may have been left behind.

Try downloading WordPress again and delete then replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings. Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.

Same Result. Let me ask you this. Thie site is currently not running the same domain url since we are in the process of transferring the domain we are running under a subdomain until we transfer the domain. Since we are currently running under another subdomain, will that impact this? It appears that may be the issue.

    Thanks ahead of time.

That sound about right. Did you change the two URLs at Settings -> General before moving?

I did not because the domain will be the same after we transfer it over.

Those two URL values are what tell WordPress where to look for files and such, so it’s still looking for data on the old server.

You’ll need to manually change the URLs to what works now, then change them back when you move the domain over.

Where do I change the urls?

    Click Settings General

I know how to get in from the UI. I changed the url in the wp_options table and that did not work. Do I need to change the url anywhere else in the application?

Recheck all files and folders as from the error you getting looks like there are files missing or are corrupted.

You can replace all files and folders except wp-content folder and wp-config.php file
