Support » Fixing WordPress » Moved to be self hosted and lost my posts -how do I get them back?

  • I recently wanted my blog to be self-hosted so I bought a premium theme and installed it. My old blog was hosted on wordpress. Now, with the new theme on my dashboard I can’t find any of my old posts and I don’t want to loose them. How do I get them back or import them into the new self-hosted theme? Please help!

  • You need to export the content from your WordPress.COM blog.

    Export

I already used the import feature and selecting the exported xml file from wordpress but nothing transfers over. I followed the “changing from wordpress.com to wordpress.org instructions” but its still not finding my old posts and pages…please help.

Have you tried using the default twenty eleven theme and disabling all plugins?

I have a custom theme that I paid for and downloaded. ideas?

I know, but try the default theme first, just in case it’s the custom theme that’s not working correctly.
