Moved index/php to root but old /wordpress/index/php not redirecting

    Greetings. After following all the instructions I’ve moved my blog homepage out of the /wordpress/ folder and into the root and my domain now goes directly to the blog 🙂

    But, my old link (and presumably any old incoming links) to mydomain/wordpress/ doesn’t redirect to the new blog homepage like I’d expect, instead it opens my blog ok, but with a 404 page not found error.

    I’m using /%postname%/ permalinks, and still have an htaccess and the index.php file in /wordpress/ so shouldn’t wordpress be redirecting requests for mydomain/wordpress/index.php to the mydomain/index.php now in my root?
