Support » Fixing WordPress » Moved Blog – Short Links Redirect To Old Directory

  • I created my blog in a sub directory for development and then moved it up one level, to root, for go-live. Everything seems to be functioning appropriately except for short links, which redirect to old URL, resulting in WordPress 404. Newly-generated short links are not being created per the new directory either. This is the case for media, posts, and pages.

Short links redirect to old URL which looks like:

    http://example.com/wp/?attachment_id=781

If I change the URL to the correct address (http://example.com/?attachment_id=781) then everything functions as expected.

I followed the codex (http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress) exactly and used the blue velvet plugin to update URL’s. If I try to run the plugin again it states that zero URL’s are being found. I did not however try to update GUIDs. I do understand that this is probably an htaccess or database issue, but I am new to WordPress so I am not sure how to proceed.

    I am not using multisite.

    Please help, any advice appreciated.

    Thanks
