Move WP-DB from Old host to New

Hi I exported the existing db .sql from the old host phpmyadmin into the new host phpmyadmin successfully. I downloaded the entire site from the old host and re-uploaded to the new.

I didn’t change anything in wp-config

When I click on blog I get “unable to make database connection”.

So I tried installing a new wp 3.5 install. I enter all wp-config db authentication and I get same thing “unable to make database connection.

So I tried creating a new database and connecting. That worked fine.

Does anybody have any ideas what I can do to get the database from the old host working? The authentication for the DB works fine still on the old host, won’t work at all on the new.
