    Hello, I tried googling for a solution to this, but no luck so far..
    I'd like to create a twentytwelve child them and the first task is to move the header image to sit at the top of the page, above the menu AND also have the site title and tagline still in their original position, overlaying the image. Would appreicate any help in achieving this.

    Thanks, Marcus

    there are several topics with suggestions on how to move the header image already here in the forum;

    the overlay is a pure formatting issue; for this:
    - you might need to post a link to your site, after you moved the header image, to get some suggestions;
    - try working with a browser inspection tool to find out where the styles for the header items are;
    - ask at a css forum like http://csscreator.com/forum

    Ok thanks, the instructions on this thread got the header image above the menu bar...

    Specifically, using the code found here to create a new header.php file in the child theme...

    I'll work on moving the site title and tagline now in the child style.css file

    here's the site address... http://www.jellybeanseams.co.uk

    try to add something like this to style.css in the child theme:

    .site-header { position: relative; }
    .site-header hgroup { position: absolute; top: 60px; left: 2%; }

    Thanks Alchymyth, I'll have a try with that, in the meantime I just added the text to the header image and turned off the header text. I'm curious, does this method have an adverse effect on SEO ?
