• About 5 years ago I had my site developed by a pro and he used WordPress for the blog side of it and added a pod press plugin. I have decided to go with WordPress as a CMS and totally redesign the site.

I have updated the blog to version 3.3 (manually) and things seem to work as before.

Now I need to install a template. But where do I do it? Do I upload it to my site folder? Is it possible to maintain my podcasts? I was only using the blog for podcasting.

  • You can install new themes through the admin panels of your blog Appearance > Themes > Install Themes (see http://codex.wordpress.org/Appearance_Themes_Screen). The Install Themes page has the option “search” to search in the plugin repository of wordpress.org and “upload” to upload and install a theme via a .zip file.

Furthermore it is important that you update podPress to the current version. You can do this also via the admin panels/screens (see http://codex.wordpress.org/Plugins_Screen)

You should probably control all settings. But that is probably it.

Keep in mind too, depending on the template, you may want to see if they have specific template instructions. Some of the templates I use have to be manually installed. However, most templates can be installed via the method Tim mentioned.
