• Hi there !

I’m almost done editing my website, but there is still one thing that’s not quite as I would like it to be, and I can’t find any clear help online.

I’m working on my website : cachalot.fr, and on the front page, I would like my slider to be displayed above my main menu, and below my website logo, or maybe even better, If my slider could be displayed behind my logo, I would then make sure the logo is not hard to see if displayed above my slider.

The thing is, the theme i’m using does not let me customize my menu, and only have one other type of menu available.

Could you guys think of any additionnal CSS I could put in to do that ? Or should I really consider changing my theme for one with better menu customization ?

Thanks for your time and answers !

  • If a theme doesn’t have the option in the dashboard, moving things around a page like you intend to do will generally require editing some theme file (HTML/PHP code), not just adding custom CSS.

I tried to take a look at your site, but I’m seeing 403 – Access Denied. I can’t say if it’s an error or if you’re simply blocking visitors from some countries.

Oh, yeah I did block visitors from other countries than mine, sorry about that. I’ll remove it temporarily

I checked out your site, and due to the way elements are layout out on the page (the menu is inside a parent container inside another parent container on one row, while the slider sits outside on its own row), it’s not possible to use CSS alone to re-position these elements.

So, so this is going to require theme code editing to do. And as you don’t want to lose your edits when you update the theme, you’ll need to create a child theme. If you’re not very good with coding, things can get complicated very quickly.

Since your site’s design is very basic and hasn’t been customized that much, my recommendation is to switch to another theme that has the layout and customizability that you need.

Hey, I am not good at coding, So I will be checking on some other themes that could do the trick. If you have any theme suggestion let me know, else I’ll just try as much themes as I can, don’t worry !

    Thanks for your time !
