 * Hello,
 * I’m curious, is there anything here in the forums or elsewhere where people are
   suggesting new plugins and perhaps even voting on the most popular ideas?
 * In other words, for my next plugin, I would really like to try and find a feature/
   problem that’s been in high-demand for a long time and solve it with a new plugin.
 * Thanks

      Reason: Moved to Everything else WordPress, this is not a Requests and Feedback

 * I hope not. That’s been a source of spam and much more spam. And more spam after
   that.
 * _*Drinks much coffee*_
 * There is a (hopefully it will die soon and I’ve been saying that for years) Ideas
   forum on another wordpress.org site but except for a few people who look at it
   to zap spammers it does not serve any purpose.
 * When someone or enough people have a problem then someone will make a plugin
   if there’s enough demand. That’s how the 56k+ published plugins on this site
   came to be. Having a site or section for voting up ideas would become spammy
   and has before. It would also let people gamify things to try and build their
   market.
 * The moderators on this site develop a face tick when they read “gamify” and I’m
   sorry to anyone else reading this who does.
 * _*More coffee*_
 * These forums are very targeted at support. If you’ve an idea or problem you want
   to solve then please go for it and submit that plugin. But no one should use
   this site for anything like market research. That’s just not what this place
   is for.

 * Why would it cause spam?
 * Is it because people would suggest:
 * “How about a plugin that does XYZ?”
 * And then that is like chumming the water for people to self-promote?:
 * “I have a plugin that already does XYZ! Buy it here: $$$!!!”
 * I totally forgot about [https://wordpress.org/ideas/](https://wordpress.org/ideas/).
   That’s probably as close as it gets to what I’m looking for.
 * > When someone or enough people have a problem then someone will make a plugin

 * Well, yes and no. That’s pretty much how half of my plugins came to be already.
   For example, I solved a problem for one of my own projects with:
 * [https://wordpress.org/plugins/contributor-notifications/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/contributor-notifications/)
 * That wasn’t being done or done in a way I liked, so I created my own solution.
   I thought it was going to be pretty useful to others too. However, it’s pretty
   niche and that plugin will probably only be useful to a handful of people, which
   I’m perfectly fine with.
 * However, I like making stuff and I like helping out; it’s fun, but I’m kinda
   bored and would like to contribute something more worthwhile. I’ve got time on
   my hands, so I’m trying to get some insight into the aforementioned “demand”
   so I can make a productive contribution rather than just guessing or solving
   obscure problems.
 * Based on [https://wordpress.org/ideas/view/top-rated](https://wordpress.org/ideas/view/top-rated),
   there appears to be quite a bit of demand for tags and cats for images, but looks
   like that’s pretty much been solved already?:
 * [https://wordpress.org/plugins/categories-images/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/categories-images/)
 * I’m sure just about every worthwhile feature imaginable has already been solved,
   but I was just curious if there was anything left for me to work on.
 * And I realize that you’re down in the trenches everyday so I should probably
   just take your word for it and move on. I also realize that the road to hell
   is paved with good intentions, but that’s all I’ve got.
 * Thanks

 * I am always happy when someone gets me 100% correctly. 😉
 * Yes, it’s happened and it will happen again. Probably soon.

 * The original poster asked a perfectly reasonable question…
 * > In other words, for my next plugin, I would really like to try and find a feature/
   > problem that’s been in high-demand for a long time and solve it with a new
   > plugin.
 * As best I can tell, the original poster made no attempt to sell anybody anything.
   The mods should butt out of the thread until such time as that happens. Here’s
   why…
 * I believe I **might** have a pretty good answer to the poster’s question. If
   that is true, the resulting product could be of great service to me, and many
   others. But we can’t discuss that possibility on this forum. Here’s why…
 * The mods are volunteers. They’re burned out, and apparently pissed off as a result.
   And so they invade thread after thread after thread to share their emotional
   frustrations. Here’s proof. The mods could have simply deleted this thread if
   in their judgment it is not useful. But instead, they hijacked the thread (yet
   again!) and used it to express their spam burnout, for about the thousandth time.
 * There’s a solution. If the mods are burned out on human beings, I can totally
   relate to that. Really, I can. So stop being a mod. Retiring mods will either
   be replaced by fresh faces, or the forum will collapse. Either would be an improvement
   over the status quo.
 * I came to this forum to read about WordPress solutions. Not about the mod’s emotional
   frustrations. If you just have to rant about spam, could you perhaps create a
   new category on the forum and limit your spam rants to that section?
 * Thanks for listening.

 * Actually, someone else already commented to defend me and criticize the mods
   and I took the time to thoughtfully go out of my way to defend the mods, since
   I understand both sides of it, but all those comments were deleted.
 * In fact, any new comment added after this comment:
 * [https://wordpress.org/support/topic/most-requested-plugins/#post-12807895](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/most-requested-plugins/#post-12807895)
 * Just keeps getting deleted. And WordPress is VERY strict about their no-delete
   policy, so if we’re gonna just keep censoring and modifying this thread, I agree,
   let’s just delete the whole thing and call it a day.
 * Thanks
