Most of Purchase conversions are not counted by my ads

    Hello,

    Our ads are not counting all purchase events and not optimizing nor getting out of learning mode.
    This problem has been going on for a long time now and we believe that this is affecting the performance of our ads.
    We thought at first that this is because of the IOS but we found that IOS users in Egypt are around 1.5 M while all Facebook users in Egypt are 45 M and it can’t affect most of our conversions as we see now.

    We use WP-Rocket for cache + Server OPcache + Cloudflare

    The error message above is usually due to an ad blocker such as uBlock or something similar.

    You will have to disabled your ad blocker (if any) and try again.

    Hi there!

    Looking into these warnings, it seems that other users have seen these come up when an Ad blocker is being used within the browser. Can you please make sure that you have disabled all ad blocking extensions within the browser and check if this is resolved?

    We checked it yesterday from the incognito window and fixed some errors, we found that using “&” in category names like “Toys & Hobbies” causes errors in the events manager.
    But still, our ads are not counting all purchase events and they are detected by server-side and browser tracking but not counted by ads.

    Hey @colyz93,

    Does this mean the error message above is fixed and gone and that we are just working on tracking sales?

    For the Facebook pixel not tracking purchase events:

    Are some events being tracked?

    Can you try installing the Pixel Helper Extension for Chrome and see if it can shed some light on this issue?

    Once installed you will navigate to your site, check the Pixel info with the extension and then reproduce the checkout flow to see if there are any other insights.

    Keep us posted, we’ll be glad to keep troubleshooting this issue with you.

    Hello,

    Today we had 16 Purchases, only 9 was counted by our ads
    Most if not all of our sales come from Facebook ads so this is weird
    Two days ago we tested placing orders ourselves with Facebook Pixel Helper and we found the only problem with the parameters as mentioned above then after fixing it we tested again with no problem found by the pixel helper.
    You may do the testing yourself if you would like to just use test as first and last name.
    We use Hostinger as our service provider with cloud plan, Could it be a slow checkout process causing this? like ajax?
    Also, we notice several domains sending data through our pixel and we blocked them:

    native_document
    fbsbx.com
    google.com

    But still, the same problem purchases are not counted by ads

    Thanks for the reply! I don’t believe checkout latency would be the problem but there could be something else at play we’ve not yet identified.

    – Could you please share a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”.  Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.

    – The Pixel Helper extension, can give us a screenshot of what they see when it’s installed. I recommend https://snipboard.io for sharing screenshots – please follow the instructions on the page, then paste the URL in the reply. It works with Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.

    – Do the 9 orders that were counted have anything in common that are different from the 7 that weren’t? Different status, product type, shipping, etc?

    – Lastly, check the Error Logs (WooCommerce > Status > Logs) for any potential errors (general or specific). There is a dropdown menu, look for “fatal” with current dates.

    Thanks for sharing the Status report. I don’t see anything suspicious in it that could have caused the data inaccuracy on your purchase stats, beside the use of WP Rocket plugin. Please do ensure that it’s not configured to cache the Cart & Checkout, Order Confirmation pages so pixel events can pass on to Facebook.

    Today we had 16 Purchases, only 9 was counted by our ads
    Most if not all of our sales come from Facebook ads so this is weird

    It’s a bit tricky to track down the cause of this issue, but if you have an additional analytics tracking installed like Google Analytics, you can filter the data on that particular data to show which ones come from Organic Traffic, which ones from Paid Advertising from FB paid ads.

    If you can verify from Google Analytics that those 16 purchases were also reported to come from paid ads, then indeed the 9 purchase not counted in your Ads Manager could have caused by some pixel events not passing to Facebook (could be the case that those buyers have ad blocker in the browser preventing the pixel events being sent to Facebook, etc).

    Just found out that Google Analytics tracked 19 orders out of 25 orders made yesterday
    I don’t think excluding pages is the answer as WP Rocket already exclude them as mentioned by them

    Cart, checkout and “my account” pages set in WooCommerce will be detected and never cached by default.

    May it be WP-Rocket addons? they have this option

    Hello @colyz93,

    Testing those WP Rocket add-ons may help. If you don’t see a difference, I’d next try disabling the entire WP Rocket plugin. It is always best to test one thing at a time so you can rule out causes!

    Note that if Sol’s suggestion that your customers may be using adblocking software is correct, then your ability to track those users with Pixel (or Google Analytics) may be limited. You can do a reverse test to see if you can replicate the issue by installing AdBlock and placing a test order to see if it fails to register in your analytics.

    Let us know what you find out from trying to disable your caching plugin so we can pick up troubleshooting from there. Thanks!
