This plugin gets constant updates for bugs and feature tweaks, breaking any custom CSS one might have cobbled together, then on top of it all advertises the Pro version every chance it gets…not to mention the bait-n-switch business practices others have already documented…this is the most obnoxious plugin in the WordPress repository by far and actually feels like an insult to use!!

Sorry to hear you don’t like AdRotate or my efforts to make it better (including fixing the dumb bugs).

The CSS, as explained numerous times in various posts and on the forum, has changed in version 3.10 to accommodate responsive themes – A mostly one time thing.
However, pretty much every class name remained intact. Allowing for most custom CSS to work as before.

And for promoting AdRotate Pro. AdRotate is a free plugin with a premium version I’d like to sell. In case you haven’t noticed. There have been less and less of such references in every version over the past few months. It kind of renders your problem resolved I’d say.
Obviously it is common practise to try and upsell – Every free software with a pro version does that.

And bait and switch? No such thing happened. AdRotate remained AdRotate minus a few features and a Pro version with vastly more features – Most of which were never in the free version got added, almost 2 years ago. Why even bring that up now?

But – Good luck with finding something else.

Try Google’s Doubleclick for Small Business. It’s a much better alternative and it’s free.

    Arnan,

What’s most obnoxious is the flyout every single time the plugin updates…yeah, we get it, there’s a paid version available…jeez, how many times you have to nag people with it??

A note — even a huge flashy graphic — on the plugin’s settings screen is enough, no need to have a flyout blocking workspace visuals unless one clicks “dismiss”…for your reference, the “Floating Social Media Icon” plugin from Acurax also heavily promotes its paid version, but at least there’s an option to disable the “main” (outside its own settings page) nag — and it’s not a flyout that blocks the view!

It’s a shame you don’t understand this simple aspect of modern UX.

Thanks, whatwhatwhat, for the tip…I’m using the “Advanced Ads” and “Ad Blocking Detector” plugins quite satisfactorily!
