Support » Plugin: Complianz | GDPR/CCPA Cookie Consent » Features locked, against plugins rules

  • The only thing that sets it apart from other plugins (i.e. the ability to generate a cookie policy) is only premium and disabled in the downloadable version. This is clearly against plugin guideline #5:

Plugins may not contain functionality that is restricted or locked, only to be made available by payment or upgrade. Functionality may not be disabled after a trial period or quota is met.

    Hi @ste_95,

I’m sorry to hear you had trouble setting up the plugin. The plugin does not contain locked features. A cookie policy will automatically get generated, as you will notice when you complete the wizard. All features listed as part of the free plugin are free and unlocked, like the cookie scan, cookie banner, cookie policy, region choice, integrations with a lot of plugins, etc.

There are some premium features, like the generation of the privacy policy and choosing multiple regions which are promoted in the plugin. This feature is not part of the free plugin, so is not locked. This is allowed by WordPress.

If you would like some help with setting up the plugin we are happy to help you out, you can open a support ticket on the forum or contact us on https://complianz.io/support.

Our goal is always to give free users a complete tool which should fit most users needs. If you think we haven’t succeeded here please let me know what you would like to have added in the free version.

I don’t know how you want to call this, but showing a greyed-out option and writing “Only available in Premium version” under it is what I would define as locked feature, see image https://i.ibb.co/VB76DPP/Screenshot-from-2019-10-07-10-02-16.png

This is about the privacy policy, not the cookie policy. As you will notice, the cookie policy is part of the free plugin.

What you are referring at here, is the privacy policy, which is a premium plugin feature. It is shown as a setting, but is not part of the free plugin. It is just a promotion.

Just in case you didn’t find the cookie policy yet: after completing the wizard, you can find the Cookie Policy either by clicking the “read more” link in the cookie banner. Or by clicking the Cookie Policy link on your Complianz Dashboard.

If you have any trouble finding the Cookie Policy, let us know and we’ll help you out.
