Morning After Theme Help with photos and columns

I suspect these are very basic questions, I just haven’t been able to figure this out.

1. My images are not appearing in my main page/home page posts. When I click through, they are there, but like I said, can’t get them to show up as thumbnails (or anything else) on the home page.

2. I’d like to use Morning after as a two column layout, but am still stuck with three. And I’d like to get rid of some of the default items/widgets on the page (meta, blogroll, etc.). I’ve tried dragging them to be inactive, but no luck. I’d like one large content column and one sidebar on the right.

Any insight would be much appreciated. Apologies for being such a newbie. Thanks!!!!
