• WordPress needs more Variable Width themes.

99.99% of the themes that are created are fixed width, and typically have gaps on the right and left, leaving just a large center column of usable space. Look at this site for example.

It is a large waste of space. We need variable width, because on high screen resolutions, the amount of spacing on the right and left only expands, and it just looks worse and worse.

  • Sounds like you’ve found a niche for your own themes, then, doesn’t it?

If I can figure out the trick to get them working…maybe so 😉

Using Mambo CMS at the moment, but I want to switch to WordPress. I’ve tweaked themes for that system…but its always a bit of a learning curve when you move to a new CMS.

    it’s a prob
nobody would like to read a large sentence or a short sentence on a 1600xXy wide screen.
it’s too heavy for our eyes

typographer have to learn this and we too.

and it is not usability to create a site only for 1024×768 or similar.

a website have to look nice AND have to be readable

that’s why most of the webdesigner got always a headache orhave more than one cup of coffee day to day 😉
