    your theme seems to be using the_excerpt() function for the shortened posts on the front page;
    you might need to change that to the_content() and add the ‘more tag’ manually into the posts;

    for a theme based on Twenty Eleven (like yours), this could possibly be changed in content.php – depending on the theme’s customization.
