More tag in Edit Post is getting converted to <!–more–>

    Hi,
We have two different environment(server) for WordPress. One of them is having no issues with the More tag. I added <!–more–> within the post and I see the more link in the post page.
Same thing dosent work in other env that we have. Tried two ways…
    1) Add more manually by pasting <!–more–> within the post
    2) In Visual tab, added more tag using “Insert More tag” button.
Both the ways, once I click on “Update” and save the post, its getting converted to <!–more–>
This happens only for < and >.

Are you adding the more tag via the Visual or HTML editor?

Initially I tried using the Visual editor. I clicked on the “Insert More tag” button and then clicked on Update button which saves the changes done in post. Once saved, I switched to HTML editor, the more tag changes to & lt;–more–& gt;(without space)

Also tried pasting <!–more–> on the HTML editor but same issue.

Don’t switch editing tabs on any one given post. That will play havoc with markup. Can you replicate the problem using the Twenty Eleven theme with all plugins deactivated?
