I think the plugin author has given a perfectly rational and reasonable response to this (if I don’t agree with a plugin feature request, I won’t include it in my plugin) so I think you’re picking a fight for no reason. If you’ve made the update for yourself, well done, but please don’t blame the author for not implementing your request. This is not the nature of the web. * It doesn’t take much research to find that “read more” links are both poor accessibility and poor SEO. But hey, don’t let me stop an “expert” like you doing what you feel is best. If your page is titled ‘Sitemap’ it would be expected to include links to site pages. Then, why the need for ‘read more’ links anyway. The links are already there. My issue was in how he said no. I often have to tell clients no and the skill in which I say no makes a huge difference on that customer staying happy. * I made a reasonable request for something that is in the scope of a page list that currently includes photos, titles, excerpts, allows for sorting, and all sorts of other bells and whistles. He immediately dug his heals in and said “ I will not…” Most of my clients would fire me pretty quickly if I responded that way. * I understand that in the lofty realms of seo correctness that more links are bad. But down here on Earth, in the trenches of the internet, I build sites for real people…..not search engines. I build sites based on my audience. If I think my visitors will be a bunch of internet savvy, tech heads….I’ll skip the more link. If I’m going to have a bunch of grandmothers that have hard time even finding the power button….I’m going to put in a more link because I know they will need the extra help with figuring out where to click. * I made the bad review because people considering using this plugin need to know how you handle feature requests. They need to know that good, reasonable ideas will likely be shot down right away. You began with asking the author to cite what he based his decision on from a previous request. The author replied and cited the resources. Then it seemed like the conversation ended on your second post, “Wow….that’s great customer service for you folks”. I also want to say that communicating on the forums is difficult because it’s just plain text. I don’t think it’s entirely intuitive to web users, especially older ones, to click only on the title. It’s very useful to have a “Read More” link after the excerpt since that’s the natural linear connection the user will make if they’d like to see more on the topic. * I’d recommend making it an option for the pagelist_ext portion of this plugin.
