more (extended entries)

  • I’ve recently started using the <!–more–> tag to split up long entries and it’s really great (I never noticed it in b2). I thought it would be a good idea to put a button to add it with the html markup buttons on the Post/Edit page. It seems to me that it would fit in nicely and help us lazy folk who normally forget about it 🙂 Thanks.

  • That’s a good idea.

I agree. It would help me out a lot to be able to just click the button.

Just thought I’d bump this topic. I’ve started splitting my entries more frequently and thought maybe you could slip it in before .72 goes gold.
Whoops, just went gold… oh well, maybe for the next one…

I’ve finished patches for v0.71 and 0.72 (gold) that allow what you described. They can be found in the sf.net patch tracker as patch #821634.
Additionally, you can find a ready-patched file for wp 0.72 gold attached to a posting in my blog.
    Hope that helps.
    Bye, Mike
PS: @alexking: great work with that wp-quicktags.js-stuff… patching the new buttons in was very easy.

Glad to hear it. I’ve actually cleaned up the code quite a bit on the version I share between WP and tasks. I should update the WP code too.

This is committed to cvs now, and will be in the next release.
    Thanks,
    Mike
