  • Having the same issue myself. Have already de- and re-activated the plugin a few times to no avail.

    Any word on a solution?

I have tried everything I can think off or read about and the problem persist.
Still no response from the plugin’s author.

Issue not resolved yet and i just noticed the same issue was simply marked as resolved in another thread…i’m really holding out for a solution here because i love everything else about this plugin.

you’re right but it seems they don’t provide an actual support and this is key. I am waiting to get a response from the authors for a while now. very disappointed.

well that does it…apparantly, was the plugin not only doing daily backups instead of monthly backups…it was also not deleting any backups even though i had it set to store no more than 5 on the server.

gave me a pretty big scare when i suddenly started getting internal server errors and was unable to load the site because the server was full.

    never using this plugin again.

    Hey Left design,

Sorry we’ve fallen a bit behind on the support forum posts. Could I ask, are you using the latest version of the plugin? That should have fixed the issue with older backups not being deleted.

As for the monthly backups running daily, there have been several reports of this happening but so far I haven’t been able to track down the cause. One thing you can try is to uninstall and then re-install the plugin, that will cause the schedules to be re-registered and should cause the monthly schedules to start working again.

I did all that. I have uninstalled and re-installed but it didn’t resolve the issue.
and yes. I am using the latest version of the plugin.

Simple install and uninstall will not do it. Cause the Settings are saved in the MySQL Database.
Is there a easy way to get rid of all the stored BackupWordpress informations.
And then try a clean fresh install?

I too have backups going crazy, it started about a month ago. I will have to delete the plugin if this keeps happening as I’m losing valuable business emails due to my storage being full. Please help!

You can remove all the BackUpWordPress settings and options by uninstalling the plugin, this is different from simply deleting the plugins files.

    To uninstall BackUpWordPress:

    1. De-activate the plugin
    2. Click the Uninstall link which then shows up next to the activate link

I have my backups programmed at 23:00 and they run when they want… At 7 am, sometimes at 8 am… So we all have the same problem…

    Any solution?

    Hey kamaleon,

That sounds like a different problem, although BackUpWordPress schedules the backups for 23:00 the cron job is only actually triggered if someone visits the site, so if no-one visits your site until 7am then the backup won’t happen until then.

And how is that logic implemented? Usually you want backups to be made at off peak hours, not when someone visits a site.

Can it be forced to be done at 23:00?

Thats just how the WordPress cron system works, it has to be triggered by a visit to a site.

You could setup an actual server cron job which would hit wp-cron.php at 23:00 every evening thus kicking off your backup.

    See here for more info

    Not very practical.

Anyways, thank you for the info!
