Hi, I am working on helping a friend fix his blog. I am at wit’s end. πŸ™ I apologize in advance if there has already been a post about this.

When you click on his monthly archive links it shoots you back to the front of the blog. The strange thing is it worked perfectly from December 2005 to March 2006.

I tried updating to 2.0.2 with no luck. I also tried changing the permalinks, but then it gave me 404 errors because I can’t upload .htaccess to his server. The server won’t let me. πŸ™ So I went back to the default permalink structure.

His control panel is ensim if anyone has any ideas, I would greatly appreciate it. πŸ™‚

Thank you for your help and time. πŸ™‚

it gave me 404 errors because I can’t upload .htaccess to his server.

Does this mean that you can’t use .htaccess at all and that you have never modified it (server default)? Or is there maybe a .htaccess on the server of an old WordPress installation?

Also, can you post a link to the blog or the link of the URL that redirects you directly to the blog’s front page.

    Hi Michael,

    Thank you for helping me.

I looked at his server ( he had version 1.5.2 before I upgraded it) and he didn’t have an .htaccess file on there at all. When I attempted to upload the .htacess file to his server, it would not allow me. He is using Ensim as a control panel. Does there have to be an .htaccess file for WP to work correctly?

Here one of the archive links that redirects: http://www.fromthedeskofmikestewart.com/?m=200603

Thank you for your help and time. πŸ™‚
