Hi, I use the Modula gallery plugin (free version) and would like to use it with your lightbox. The photos do open in your lightbox (classic reloaded), however the arrows to move to the next photo don’t appear.

Hi there! Yes, this is a grouping issue. Fancybox doesn’t know to group images based on Modula Galleries as a third party plugin.

This capability is supported in Firelight Pro. The Pro Lightbox supports Modula Galleries out-of-the-box – just enable and go. If you want to continue using the free lightbox styles, the Pro Lightbox adds something called custom grouping for those lightbox styles. You just enable that, and add .modula-gallery to the list of selectors for grouping images.

Thank you for your explanation, I will have a look at the Pro version.

Hi again, I used the former version of the plugin (easy fancybox) on several sites together with Modula, there the arrows worked and still work fine.
Does this mean that when I update the plugin to your latest version the arrows will stop working on these websites?
    Thanks.

The code for Easy Fancybox and Firelight is the same – it’s just a brand change. So what worked before should work now. I’ll test against an older version of our plugin. It’s also possible something changed on the Modula side.

@ws24 – if you have a site where the free version is working and providing nav arrows with Modula, please feel free to share the link and I’ll see if I can understand what’s happening there.

But there’s never been an explicit effort to make the free version of our lightbox work with Modula. As far as I know, it’s always worked like it works now, and depends on the lightbox settings for any specific Modula gallery. With Easy Fancybox 1.9.9:

    – If a Modula gallery is set to use Modula’s lightbox, it will open with that. And you can turn on navigation arrows for Modula’s lightbox.
    – If you set your Modula gallery/images to have no link, they will not open at all.
    – If you set your Modula gallery/images to link to the media/image file, they will open in our lightbox because our lightbox tries to detect any image link, no matter where it comes from. But you won’t see navigation arrows – that requires logic to make fancybox ‘group’ images as a gallery. Again, I don’t think that ever worked in the free version, though I suppose it’s possible it worked accidentally with some combination of settings.

You can download 1.9.9 (or other older versions) here to test. I just tested 1.9.9 to confirm. If you find something different than I’m saying above, definitely let us know!

(FYI – for the Pro lightbox version, we’re making a more deliberate and comprehensive effort to support Modula, including all Modula gallery types (free and pro) and all lightbox functionality. Be aware there is still some Pro functionality that’s not working yet. For example, the Pro lightbox won’t currently load EXIF/IPTC captions or camera data for Modula images, but that’s in progress.)

Indeed I manage a website that works with Modula (actually at version 2.11.2) together with your plugin (at version 2.3.8). Both free plugin versions, the Modula gallery/images link to the media/image file. The site was launched about 6 months ago, without the arrows I wouldn’t have used them together ;-). And now I’m worried that it won’t work any longer if I update…
Because it concerns a website of a client I can’t publish the url here, if you have an e-mail address for this goal I can send you the link.
