  • Let’s face it, hardly anyone uses 800×600… Kubrick is designed for 800×600 so it will fit in the entire window… But now, using 1024×768 and above, it just looks too small!

Is there anyway to modify Kubrick to make the entire content proporitonally wider? I’ve tried modifying the CSS… But everything just looks weird.

  • Kubrick is made up from a lot of images, so you would need to modify all the image to make them wider.

I tried that, but then they just get clipped.

According to W3C statistics from July of this year, 25% of people are using 800×600.

I don’t think you can count 1 in 4 people as ‘hardly anyone’.

Well excuse my miscalculations, then.. But honestly, it feels like I am wasting so much space.

The best option if you don’t like the idea of a fixed 800 wide layout is a fluid layout that will adjust according to the viewers window size.

If you design for only 1024×768 you risk alienating a huge part of the potential audience.

I was thinking about that.. But is this achieveable with Kubrick, or do I have to start from scratch?

    Isn’t Kubrick 2 built for 1024×768?

I’m not using Kubrick, but BinaryBonsai is over 800px wide…
K2beta is available on BB. It’s still beta, so the usual disclaimers apply.

Thanks for the heads up, I was just playing with the idea to transfer to K2… I have to study it’s structure.

I don’t think you can count 1 in 4 people as ‘hardly anyone’.

Well thanks to Google Analytics, I know that about 8% of my visitors are at 800×600, and none are below, so, I’d love to know how to do make Kubrick into a 10×7 layout. Anyone?

I’d hate changing themes, but perhaps that’s the best solution, especially since I often forget to backup my sidebar, etc. customizations before upgrading … LOL
