  • There are no html files in WP.

If you are new to WordPress, it is always good to read a little bit about how to use it in the online manual, the Codex:

Any text editor can edit your CSS or templates (ie, index.php) There are no .html pages, they are all .php, except the .css file. To “build” a Page, you do that in the Write “Pages” area. Writing posts will also generate their own page.

You can also edit the files directly in WP, in your admin area, under Presentation, theme editor. To do that, the files need to have write permissions.
