    I am having troubles figuring out how to alter my Search field layout. I am wanting to change the "Search For:" text, and move the text above the search field. I am also wanting to move the Search Button to the right of the search field instead of underneath as it currently is. If for some reason I don't have enough room to have the button to the right of the field, then I would like to remove the "search" button and have the search filed operate when you click enter.

    if you need to see my blog, it is located @ http://www.jerodmayer.com/blog

    I am trying to figure out the cleanest way to format the side bar, but think this will help a lot.

    Create a file called searchform.php and place it in your theme's folder, and add this code to the file..

    <form role="search" method="get" id="searchform" action="<?php echo get_option('home'); ?>">
    		<label class="screen-reader-text" for="s">Search for</label>
    		<input type="text" value="<?php echo esc_attr( apply_filters( 'the_search_query' , get_search_query() ) ); ?>" name="s" id="s" />
    		<input type="submit" id="searchsubmit" value="Search" />

    Adjust the code as required..

    Thank you for the help! One thing that I cannot figure out is when I add this searchform.php to my site, the widgets in the sidebar don't show up anymore. Can you help with that issue?

    The sidebar content has been pushed down..

    Scroll down..

    Adjust the form code, or fix the invalid HTML in your template.. (i believe in the sidebar namingly).

    I am lost at this point. I scoll down and nothing is there. Can you be more specific? My website is http://www.jerodmayer.com/blog If I put the search at the bottom of all the widgets in the sidebar then everything works fine, but when I have it ontop there's a clear problem.

    The issue is with HTML code in your template, placing the form at the top, where you have done is creating invalid code which "for me at least" renders you sidebar content below the rest of your content, ie. if i scroll down the page, below the main layout is your missing sidebar content.

    Was just checking again, but looks like you got it now... :) All renders in place now..

    I fixed it. I had this at the bottom of my searchform

    </div> <!--sfarsit de content-->

    <?php get_sidebar(); ?>

    <?php get_footer(); ?>

    I removed it and all seems well. Another thing I wanted to try and do was have line breaks between widgets, is that possible? And have my posts layed out like this:

    "Blog Title"

    "Post Content (maybe a paragraph, and a link to read more below it) If someone clicks read more then it takes them to the main page of the posting."

    "Date Posted & Category"

    Can you clarify on your new question, you mentioned widgets but also something about how post content is displayed, is that relating to the same question or do you have two seperate questions?

    For showing just a paragraph/snippet of a post take a look at the excerpt ..

    For widgets, you'll have some code in your theme that registers the dynamic sidebars (the widgetized areas), if you find that code (probably in functions.php of your theme) and paste it here, i'm sure we could add a line break in..

    It will be using the following function, so it's only the code calling this function i need to see.
