Modify entry-meta and split between top and bottom

    I’m using twenty fourteen with a child theme. http://dev.mooneyontheatre.com/

    On the home page – category and archive pages – I want to change the information in the top entry meta so that the category is not displayed, display the date under the title and By author under that.

    On a post (any type) at the top I want the title and under it By author
    At the end of the post I want Filed in category on date.

    Is there a way to do this in the functions.php file. I’ve searched and I can’t find a solution.

    Any help appreciated

    I don’t know if you’re still working on this issue, but here are my two cents…..

    I think you need to look into content.php instead of functions.php.

    content.php seems to determine the way the post is set up.
