Modern theme – post appearance on homepage

I’m new to this theme, and to wordpress for that matter. When I post a blog entry it shows up on my homepage okay, but it’s too long. How do I clip the content so there’s not a long white empty strip after the initial introductory text? To see what I mean go to
http://www.stefaniefinn.com and notice the left-hand post (most recent one).
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi,

Please note that this is the feature of the theme. It displays all the post in posts list equally high.

If you want to get rid of the whitespace you get 3 options, basically:
- You can either set up a featured image for the post, just like you’ve set it up for your other post.
- You can set up custom Excerpt field text and thus make the displayed text longer. http://codex.wordpress.org/Excerpt#How_to_add_excerpts_to_posts
- Or you can use a <!-more-> tag in your post to display more text in the excerpt. (Read a “A quick example of how to use the more tag” section at http://digwp.com/2010/01/wordpress-more-tag-tricks/)
If you are new to WordPress, there are a lot of WordPress video courses out there. In the theme’s user manual I recommend http://expresstuts.com/free-wordpress-course/.

Thanks very much Oliver. At least now I know there’s really nothing you can do about this unless, like you mentioned, I use a featured image or the other tips you suggested. I found the feature image I used for another blog entry showed up too large on the main post page, so I opted not to use one (and just inserted a smaller size one within the post) for other posts.

I use your theme (MODERN) and i like it. Now, I just would like to reduce the white zone in all my posts in my homepage.
