As someone has previously mentioned, I too am getting a modal window with just a ‘0’ in when I click Add Compliance Features in WordPress admin.

But by the look of it, judging by the fact that the last response from the plugin developer was 4 weeks ago, this plugin looks to be now dead?

If so, does anyone have any recommendations of other decent cookie consent plugins please?

    Hi @the_lar,

We have been unable to recreate this issue, and the “Add Compliance Features” button is working within expected parameters across all browsers. We suggest deactivating and reactivating the plugin to access the modal.

Thanks for coming back to me.

With respect, I’m not the only person who is getting this behaviour, so denying it’s existence and marking the support query as ‘resolved’ is not actually resolving the issue. The other support query with this issue for reference is this one – https://wordpress.org/support/topic/modal-with-0-shown-when-clicking-add-compliance-features-free-upgrade/

Anyway, if you do feel like ‘resolving’ the issue then I am happy to provide whatever background information you require. My Theme is built on roots/bedrock and roots/sage as a starting point.

    Hi @the_lar

We apologize if you are having issues getting the modal to launch, but the fact that thousands of users every day are able to access it without issue indicates that the two examples you’ve provided are edge cases at best.

As previously suggested, try deactivating and reactivating the plugin, or deleting and reinstalling it entirely.

I get this when entering the plugin’s settings page sometimes, as well as when clicking on the “Free Upgrade” promo.

This is the URL that gets fired in my case:

    https://www.example.com/wp/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?action=cn_welcome_screen&nonce=b5c12b9ba3&screen=1

    This is the response:

    0

I’m also using Roots bedrock and the cause is this plugin doesn’t play nicely when the DISALLOW_FILE_MODS constant is set to true.

@jamieburchell – perfect!! That’s exactly the cause, just tested setting to false and seems to work now. Thank you for the follow up!

@the_lar Thing is, this really should be set to true in production. The plugin needs to handle the case.

@jamieburchell yeah but I can temporarily make it false, do the signup then switch it back – it’s workable!
