Modal window closes when Contact Form 7 is submitted

I see from the docs at http://www.no-margin-for-errors.com/projects/prettyphoto-jquery-lightbox-clone/?what=why#iframe-overview that prettyPhoto needs a querystring added with iframe=true but since our link is for a CF7 form accessed by CSS id #form everything breaks if query string is added.

<a href="#form" rel="prettyPhoto[iframes]">Issue we are having is – despite modal being set to true in prettyPhoto admin settings – when submit is clicked the modal closes. When Re-opened by PP link you see validation error or success message so process is working for CF7.
Can you offer advice as to why this is occurring? Client says it is new issue. I have only just taken over upkeep for them.
