mod_rewrite with the rest of the site

  • Hello
I have a site that I want to use wordpress. The site now has a dynamic include codes in it, and is using mod_rewrite to use search engine friendly urls.
i found out that wordpress doesnt like the rest of my sites friendly urls.
    ie
http://www.mysite.com/my-nice-looking-page.html is rendered as 404 page

i checked in the htaccess file, tried to remove the lines:
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
but then wordpress wont work properly. its own pages will become 404 pages.

so how do i set up so my site’s urls works with wp’s urls? is it even possible?
the site works well, if i disable permalinks. but i dont wanna disable it
