# Mod Rewrite

 * I tried the mod rewrite thing and it works with ‘index.php/path/to/’ but if I
   try to put the htaccess stuff it prints in the box below, into my htaccess file..
   i get blocked from the site . . .says I don’t have permission. I have to go in
   through the shell and delete the .htaccess stuff to get back in.
    Where/what 
   am I doing wrong?

 * You might want to ensure that you REWRITE access is enabled in your web server.
   You can inquire with your web host to figure it out.

 * Ok, so now why don’t the rules from the box pasted into .htaccess work? Why does
   it kick me (and everyone else I assume) out of my site?

 * Check your error log for details.
    I assume you’re getting ‘403 Forbidden’. Could
