Support » Plugins » Mobilepress or WP Touch gives me pgae not found

  • I’m trying to create a mobile site for one of my clients using a plugin. I’ve heard good things about a couple different ones. Mobile press and WP Mobile Detector were two that I was trying, then even tried WP Touch.

When I activate MoblilePRess the website gets a “page not found”
When I activate Mobile Detector – nothing changes
When I activate WP Touch I get page not found also.

I keep going through the options trying to see what I’ve missed and checked several posts and can’t find what I’m doing wrong or what I’ve missed.

    Any ideas?

  • I use WP Touch and I’ve been very happy with it.

I would make sure you don’t have multiple mobile plugins activated at one time. Also, how are you testing this? From a mobile device or from your browser on your desktop?

Are you running any caching plugins?

    Hi Jonathan,
Thank you for responding. I have about 5 plugins activated and I tested it from an Iphone then also from IE, FF, and Chrome.

I don’t have any caching plugins running either right now.

I read on several forums to create a separate css for mobile devices. Maybe that is an option?

But I still can’t find out why it won’t work on WP Touch.

Please share a url so we can look into it with you. Plugin conflicts and caching, as Jonathan said, are the usual culprits. Also be sure to clear your browser cache and your device’s local data when testing. You may also experience similar issues if your desktop theme relies upon custom post types. WPtouch Pro offers ways to customize your installation to work with your desktop theme that aren’t available with most free plugins including WPtouch. Post that url and we’ll let you know what we find.

Thank you so for your help. I’ve cleared all my cache. The URL is

With WPtouch, you don’t need a special “mobile” url to enable a mobile experience of your site. You may specify a different homepage if you like via the “WPtouch Home Page” option but it’s entirely optional.

That said, the page located at does not seem to exist. A 404 error was generated. Please verify that you have created a page for this url then, if you want that page to serve as your landing page for mobile users, then you may specify it in the settings.

I thought it automatically generated that page for some reason. But the home page gets the same 404 whenever I activate it. I’m sure I must be missing some steps.

    The home page is just

At this time WPtouch does not appear to be active on your site but your site seems to be loading well in its desktop theme. If you require further assistance, please respond and we’ll do our best to assist you.
