Support » Theme: Twenty Sixteen » Mobile menu doesn’t work on iPhone

  • Folks,
I’ve scoured the forums and internet to find clues, but alas nothing. If you look at my website you will see that it has a very simple 3-item menu, which display as three links in Chrome. But on my iPhone, I just see an outlined box labeled “MENU” that can be clicked but does nothing else. I would expect the 3 items to show up so I can select one. Thanks!

P.S. I have carefully studied help like this:
but it makes no sense to me. From what I can see, WordPress has menus and clickable items on the menus, but no parent menus or submenus. I gather there must be some way I am missing that lets you make items on the main menu into parent menus that have submenus, and in that case this help would make sense. But I don’t even have or want any submenus; I just want the top level menu to work on an iPhone.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Have you added the pages to the Menu
    Via ‘Appearance ‘menus’

Yes… all three menu items work great in Chrome; I added them a long time ago using Appearance/Menus. What I don’t understand is if it works great in Chrome, why doesn’t it work on my iPhone… I would have thought I wouldn’t need to do anything.

Menu doesn’t work on my android phone either.

Must be an issue with the mobile template.

    Does it work with iPad?

Paperman2, I would try my iPad but my wife seems to have misplaced it; perhaps you or someone else with one could try.

I looked at your other advice; my menu is the Primary Menu (and only one). However, I don’t understand “Your menu appears to be a Custom Menu Widget instance. You have to add a Nav Menu via the Appearance > Menus section” as I don’t know what a Custom Menu or a Nav Menu are and they don’t seem to appear anywhere in the Menu options.

In Appearance Menus check you are on the tab that says edit menus.

The drop down box should say Primary Menu.

Below that will be the pages you have added.

Further down is a section Menu Settings.
Make sure the box Primary Menu is ticked.

I’m replying via my phone so the actual page view may be slightly difference on a pc screen.

My 2016 theme mobile menu doesn’t work correctly either but the problem is different. On the tablet, when you choose menu, you get the 7 or 8 times I set up as my menu no matter how you hold it. On the phone, no matter how you hold it, you get a list of ALL my pages. There are more than 600 of them! Doesn’t matter what the parent page is set at.

I do have ‘primary menu’ chosen in menu option.
