Support » Theme: Nictitate » Mobile menu doesn't show

  • Have just about finished a website and discovered that the mobile menu doesn’t appear.

    In landsccape view on my ipad, the menu appears as normal. In portrait view on my iPad, or either view on my iPhone 6, the menu disappears.

    Is a mobile menu included in the free theme? Do I need to install a plugin to create this menu?

    Website is here: http://saintsofsalvation.com

  • I see the mobile menu on my iPhone 5. Up at the very top, there’s a black header, a hamburger button, and the word Menu. It’s the same appearance as if I look at your site on a desktop browser but make the width narrow like a cell phone.

    CrouchingBruin: That’s because I went ahead and found a plugin for the menu so I could present this to the client today. The mobile menu that’s built into the theme does not show.

    When you are done with your client presentation, can you please disable the responsive menu plugin? I think it has put in some CSS that hides the theme’s mobile menu, but I want to make sure.

    Hi CrouchingBruin, may I ask which plug-in you used.

    Thanks

    It’s not my site, but it appears the plugin being used is WP Responsive Menu.

    Yes, I was using WP Responsive Menu. I have deactivated it.

    I did not install this plugin until after I posted this support request. It was not keeping the mobile menu for appearing. There’s a problem with the theme. I tried several things with the mobile CSS but could not get it to work.

    When I do a view source of your page, I see a long inline stylesheet. In this inline stylesheet is this rule:

    /*--------------Mobile Menu-------------------*/
    #mobile-menu {
        display:none;
        position:relative;
        margin:20px 0;
    }

    It seems to be copied from the theme’s stylesheet, because there is an identical rule there. In fact, this inline stylesheet appears to be almost an exact copy of the theme’s style.css file. Because this inline stylesheet comes after the theme’s responsive.css file, then the media queries which control the display of the mobile menu gets overriden.

    Did you copy the stylesheet using a custom CSS plugin?

    Thank you nocontactforms & CrouchingBruin.

    So have you any recommended plug in I can use?

    The issue I’m having is slightly different but can be resolved by the same solutions you recommend I’m sure. With me, when you scroll down on the menu it disappears.

    Any other recommendations would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    SlickFrog, are you using the Nictitate theme? Can you please start a new thread on the Nictitate support page? Your problem may or may not be the same, but you shouldn’t jump in on someone else’s thread. And please include a link to your site when you write your post. Thanks.

    Thank you.
