Support » Theme: Twenty Thirteen » Mobile Menu: change Text

  • In the twentythirteen theme, the menu changes to a mobile menu below 643px.
I want to change the text that says “Menu”.

    I know it’s coming from a function in header.php
    <button class=”menu-toggle”><?php _e( ‘Menu’, ‘twentythirteen’ ); ?></button>

Can anyone help me find what’s causing the button text to say “Menu” and change it?

  • Well, you found the source. To change it, you want to create a child theme, make a copy of the header.php file into your child theme folder, then change the word Menu to whatever you want for the button. Don’t change the header.php file in the Twenty Thirteen theme itself. If the theme gets updated because of feature enhancements, bug fixes, or security patches, or if the theme has to be updated because of a change to the WordPress core, then your change will be lost.

Thank you! I didn’t realize that was a string.
