  • Hi rtomb92,

you would have to modify the theme to make it responsive or use a plugin (but with a plugin you usually have a different layout and look of your site on mobile devices).

Or you can purchase the premium version of the theme which has a lot more features and is fully responsive (ready for mobile devices) out of the box:

Btw. yesterday we have published an interesting infographic about responsive WordPress themes: http://www.mhthemes.com/blog/why-use-responsive-wordpress-themes/

I have used a plugin WPTouch but as with all themes it directs to usual WP mobile version the 5 post ugly theme.

I tried a couple of responsive themes just to test out if that WP mobile gets bypassed and it never did what would be causing this?

As said in my review when I get my funds back if ever from the 2 themes I purchased at themeforest by elite themers $100+ which were false advertised as being compatible with Oscar release Audio/Video did not work in them and I have tons of both they gave no support at all for me.

This theme is great all around would like to modify the Nav some or have multiple navs Main and top.

Will this one override the WP mobile crap and give full functionality as the theme itself in mobile or is there some setting I have wrong which I have checked and checked over again?

    Hi waffenss,

many thanks for your fantastic review. 😉

Please note that when you use a plugin like WPTouch it usually comes always first, in that case it doesn’t matter if a theme is already responsive. So if you want to use the responsive layout of your WordPress theme, you will have to deactivate the plugin.

I wonder that the audio/video shortcodes did not work for the themes you have purchased on themeforest, because usually these shortcodes are not handled by the theme, so they should work out of the box, because that are WordPress core functions. The only issue which might be possible, is that the theme itself has a shortcode like [video] too, which might cause conflicts with the WordPress shortcode.

Multiple navs/menus are available for the premium version. You can see them in the theme demo of the premium theme: http://www.mhthemes.com/dev_magazine/

About your last question. As I said, you always have to turn off the responsive plugin, otherwise the responsive layout of your WordPress theme won’t work! Anyway, the lite version of MH Magazine is NOT responsive, so there is actually no setting for the responsive layout.

    Michael

Absolutely no problem great theme support here and excellent theme.

I was actually talking about the normal blue mobile theme defaulted from WP I had tried some free responsive mobile themes to see if it was bypassed and none of them worked.

But I have a dispute ongoing in paypal from themeforest, orangethemes, and theme maker on the theme that did not work at all it has been almost 2 weeks now no response from any of them. It accepts 0 video short codes and does not work with local posted video link since new Oscar release.

    the code
    yoursite.com/video/.mp4

I will be purchasing your premium within the week hopefully. Thanks a bunch

    Hi waffenss,

actually usually the core audio/video functionality should not been affected by a theme, so this should work, unless the theme has same shortcodes/functions which could cause conflicts.

Have you tried your code in default themes like Twenty Thirteen? Did it work there?

    This might help too: http://codex.wordpress.org/Video_Shortcode

Not all themes do support “Post Formats” and MH Magazine does not support “Post Formats” too, because I think it is useless for a magazine. For a blog this might be cool, but not for very dynamic websites like online magazines. But the lack of support for “Post Formats” should not affect the core audio/video functionality of WordPress.

The audio/video codes local videos on server direct links embed fine with your theme.

On the other one in dispute none worked even his own shortcodes in theme reported back as no url attribute defined was what I was referring to not yours 🙂

I spent days looking for a good theme those locally hosted audio/video codes were the first i tried on your theme no issue or conflicts at all 🙂

The day I found this I spent around 7 hours going through themes like crazy then found this one not sure why it was so hard to find. But it works great as a news theme also, I’m sure the premium will be much better functionality.

    Going to purchase it now!!!!!!!!

    Hi waffenss,

I’m happy you like the theme. 😉

Yesterday we released a large update for the premium version, you can read more about that here: http://www.mhthemes.com/blog/update-mh-magazine-v1-8-0/

There is also a new demo available, which shows the new large layout (this can be enabled through the options panel): http://www.mhthemes.com/dev_magazine_2/

I wish you a nice evening.

    Hi waffenss,

    thanks for purchasing the theme.
