• Long-time user of Max Mega Menu, pro and free, love it. Hope to continue using it.

Unfortunately, I don’t see any way to integrate the new 5.8 widget block editor with the Mega Menu (eg, use blocks in the menu as opposed to just widgets). I see there is an option in the drop-down for “Block” but it seems to just be an HTML widget.

Am I missing a setting? Or has full compatibility not been integrated yet? Are there eventual plans to have block usage in the Mega Menu, either for free or pro?

    Thanks!

    Hi vanderbeam,

To get blocks showing within the sub menu, I think you’d need to create your blocks in an editor somewhere and save them as a reusable block, then use a plugin like this one to display the reusable block as a widget within the sub menu:

    Hi Tom,

I appreciate the reply, and I’m sure this information will come in handy in the future.

Unfortunately, this isn’t an ideal solution right now as it would require me to create over 30 unique re-usable blocks as it doesn’t allow me to edit the settings of each to suit my needs. I’m using MMM Pro Tabs and want the sub-categories to reveal dynamic content associated with them.

Do you have any plans to integrate 5.8 widget block functionality/compatibility natively into the plugin?

    Thanks!

    Hi Vanderbeam,

“Do you have any plans to integrate 5.8 widget block functionality/compatibility natively into the plugin?”

    – not at the moment, no. The 2 systems aren’t really compatible – there is no editor interface to edit your blocks.

There is a new menu system coming in 5.9 which may (or may not) help. There should also be some ability to use the native WordPress menu block to add blocks to your menu. You can follow the project on the Gutenberg github.

    Regards,
    Tom
